Broncos Quietly Make a Pair of Roster Moves Ahead of Week 8

The Denver Broncos announced a couple of roster moves on Wednesday, signing wide receiver Kelvin McKnight to the practice squad and waiving rookie offensive lineman Tyler Jones from the practice squad.

The Broncos signed McKnight as a college free agent back in the spring, playing his college ball at Samford University. He spent training camp and the preseason with the Broncos, but was waived on the doorstep of the season.

McKnight went on to sign with the New England Patriots but he only spent one week on their practice squad. In five preseason games, McKnight caught seven passes for 43 yards (6.1 avg.) in addition to returning eight punts for 39 yards (4.9 avg.).

The 5-foot-8, 186-pound wideout finished his collegiate career as Samford’s all-time leader in receptions (313), receiving yards (4,144) and touchdown catches (32). McKnight will continue to wear jersey No. 16.

These moves come on the heels of the Emmanuel Sanders trade on Tuesday. The Broncos need to kick the bushes, looking for any offensive help they can find.

Next up for the Broncos is a trip to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on the 4-2 Indianapolis Colts. Denver sits at 2-5 and in third place in the AFC West, owning the current tiebreaker over the L.A. Chargers.
