Emmanuel Sanders' days in Denver could be numbered.

In the wake of the team's fifth loss of the season, the Denver Broncos are expected to change their posture as it relates to the trade deadline. Little more than a week ago, GM John Elway went on record, saying the Broncos aren't looking to trade any veteran talent.

On the heels of Denver's 30-6 debacle of a loss to Kansas City, though, Elway could be singing a different tune.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Broncos are 'likely' to be 'open to listening' to trade offers for wideout Emmanuel Sanders.

Immediately following the loss to the Chiefs, Sanders went on record, calling out the play-calling of offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello.

"Got to make the plays," Sanders said via Michael Spencer of CBS4. "We've got to make the plays. We've got to call better plays, obviously, and we've got to make the plays."

It's rare that an NFL veteran calls out a coordinator publicly, so it's safe to say that Sanders' verbal slight toward Scangarello didn't escape the Broncos' attention. Far from it.

The Broncos will absolutely listen to offers for Sanders. And with the increasing rift growing between the star wideout and the team's offensive play-caller, the Broncos might be even more motivated to ship the player out of Denver as soon as possible, provided the compensation is right.

Anything less than a third-rounder probably won't cut the mustard, considering the Broncos are expected to get back a 2021 compensatory third-round pick when Sanders departs in free agency this coming spring. Never say never, though.

With Sanders squawking publicly, making the organization look bad for its decision to hire the first-time NFL play-caller, Scangarello, it's possible Elway might be a little more amenable to dishing Sanders for compensation similar to the fourth-rounder Denver got in exchange for Demaryius Thomas last year.
