Patrick Mahomes has been banged up for a couple of weeks, nursing an ankle injury. The Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback started the team's Week 7 road bout with the Denver Broncos.

In the second quarter, the Chiefs faced a 4th-&-1 on the Broncos' 5-yard line. Head coach Andy Reid elected to go for it, calling a QB sneak for Mahomes.

Reid's roll of the dice paid off in a conversion but resulted in Mahomes suffering what appeared to be a knee injury. The third-year QB was in visible, obvious pain but walked off the field on his own volition with a little help from Chiefs trainers.

Mahomes has been ruled out of Chiefs-Broncos. Matt Moore will take over.

On Moore's first opportunity inside the 5-yard line, the Chiefs went three-and-out, having to settle for a field goal. Needless to say, Mahomes' injury completely changes the shape of KCvsDEN.

It's unfortunate for Kansas City, but the Broncos have to be able to capitalize on it. As it stands toward the end of the second quarter, the Chiefs have this game well in hand 20-6.

Can Joe Flacco will his team back from a two-score deficit? Only time will tell.

So far, this Broncos squad has done nothing but shoot itself in the foot, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
