Former Cleveland Browns wide receiver Anthony Schwartz received a look from a new team Tuesday — and it shouldn’t be surprising who that team was.

Schwartz, a 2021 third-round pick whose calling card has always been speed, worked out this week with the Dolphins, who already boast one of the fastest rosters in the NFL. It remains to be seen if Schwartz will sign a contract.

The pairing would make plenty of sense for Schwartz, though, after his career never quite took off in Cleveland. He struggled with catching issues and never cracked a sizable role in the receiving room, leading to a short two-year tenure with the Browns where he totaled just 14 catches for 186 yards and one touchdown. He had three drops across 33 targets, including two in only 10 targets last season.

The Browns released Schwartz in September after he was placed on injured reserve.

Miami has always embraced speed ever since it hired head coach Mike McDaniel prior to the 2022 season. Players such as wide receiver Tyreek Hill and running backs De’Von Achane, Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson are among the fastest players at their respective positions.

Schwartz was thought to be in that category, too, when general manager Andrew Berry drafted him 91st overall in 2021. He was one of the top high school sprinters in the world prior to his college years at Auburn and held the world 18-under best time in the 100 meters from 2017-2022.

The Browns put a premium on that speed with a Day 2 pick, but Schwartz’s catching abilities never reached that value.

Miami, however, might be ready to give him another shot to realize his untapped potential.
