10 Targets for Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Day Two of NFL Draft

10 players who could join defensive lineman Calijah Kancey (Pittsburgh) as one of the newest Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hoping new defensive lineman Calijah Kancey will be the key to unlocking their pass rush once again.

Before the Bucs can get him into rookie camp, OTAs, training camp, and then onto the field, they'll add more players to his class of new NFL players.

Here are 10 - with some bonus names dropped as well - players that could be the next to join the Buccaneers' roster via the 2023 NFL Draft.

Potential Second-Round Targets

QB Will Levis, Kentucky

The slide is somewhat stunning just because of how early he's been projected over the last few months, and it's possible a slide to No. 50 inspires Tampa Bay to add a little more drama to its quarterback room.

TE Michael Mayer, Notre Dame

Cade Otton showed solid potential in his rookie season, but there's no reason for the Bucs not to add to the group and Mayer is the top tight end on a lot of boards.

CB Joey Porter Jr., Penn State

Porter was once considered a top-three cornerback in this year's class but is now available to the right team on Day 2. His brand of physical man coverage seems to fit coach Todd Bowles' system.

LB BJ Ojulari, LSU

There are many reasons for the Buccaneers to add to their pass rush even more than they already did in the first round, and Ojulari could be just the guy to bring more juice to a group that was missing much of it when outside linebacker Shaquil Barrett was lost for the year.

IOL Steve Avila, TCU

"Avila is a physically imposing guard prospect with quick feet and power," says Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com. "In pass protection, he is quick out of his stance, chops his feet and delivers a strong two-hand punch...In the run game, he runs his feet on contact and drives opponents off the line of scrimmage...Overall, I love the size and temperament Avila possesses. He's going to be a solid starting guard right away at the next level."

Other Potential Second-Round Targets: QB Hendon Hooker (Tennessee), DB Brian Branch (Alabama), TE Luke Musgrave (Oregon State), IOL Cody Mauch (North Dakota State), WR Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee)

Potential Third-Round Targets

OT Matthew Bergeron, Syracuse

CB Tyrique Stevenson, Miami (Fl.)

TE Tucker Kraft, South Dakota State

WR Josh Downs, North Carolina

CB DJ Turner II, Michigan

This NFL Draft has proven to be unpredictable, which is usually the case, and it's fully possible some of these second-round names slide or some of the third-round names go early than currently projected.

Either way, the Buccaneers are in line to add even more talent to the roster on Friday, and a couple more solid additions could just spark renewed excitement about the team's potential in the upcoming NFL season.
