Former Buccaneers’ QB Tom Brady Wants Son to Choose Something He "Loves To Do"

Tom Brady gives his thoughts on what he wants the future to be for his son.

Rumors, speculation, more rumors, and more speculation. This is what Tom Brady has had to deal with since announcing his second retirement following the conclusion of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 season.

Yes, the rumors and speculation may still continue, but as for Brady, he is adamant that he is 100% done playing in the NFL and won't make his return.

Now that Brady himself has set the record straight on not returning the gridiron, he is turning his attention to other matters such as his business ventures, his FOX broadcasting gig in 2024, and perhaps the most meaningful, his children.

Brady has three children, but his eldest son Jack (15), is just getting his football career started as he is playing quarterback at his high school. Brady, in a recent interview with ESPN, stated that he wants his oldest son to choose something "that he loves" rather than try and live up to the "crazy expectations" that will undoubtedly follow him through his football career.

“I hope he [Jack] finds the things in his life that allow him to get up every day to be internally motivated to work hard at something that he loves to do," Brady said. “A lot of it I wouldn’t choose for him to do that because there’s too many crazy expectations that people would put on him. Most of them probably very unfair actually.”

The expectations are high and equivalent to that of what both Eli and Peyton Manning had to face following in their father Archie Manning's footsteps and more recently the pressure that Bronny James is currently facing as he tries his hand at following in his father LeBron James' footsteps.

It is hard emulate the greats, but when you have those genes inside you and have grown up around the game it becomes that much more difficult to put those feelings of wanting to accomplish what they did to the side.

But, if things are left up to Brady, Jack, along with other kids trying to find their way, should just follow their dreams.

“That's what we as parents should do—support our children’s dreams whatever they may be,” Brady said. “It doesn’t need to be sports. It could be whatever. … Now that I’ve got more time on my hands, I’m very much looking forward to doing that as well.”
