Cardinals CB Questionable to Return vs Eagles

Rookie corner Garrett Williams went to the locker room.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals have been fairly banged up on the defensive side of the ball this season, and those woes continued in Week 17 against the Philadelphia Eagles when corner Garrett Williams went down with an apparent injury to the lower body in the late stages of the second quarter.

It's unknown exactly what happened, though FOX's broadcast team suggested it was a leg injury. Williams stayed down for Cardinals medical personnel to evaluate him before walking off the field under his own power

UPDATE: Williams is officially questionable to return with an ankle injury.

The Cardinals trail the Eagles 21-6 at halftime. Julio Jones has two touchdown receptions on the day.

It's been a rough season for Arizona's secondary, who cut bait with former starter Marco Wilson this past week.

“We feel good about the guys in the room. Respect Marco. He handled himself like a pro, but I feel good about moving forward," said Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon after the move was made official.

Williams is a rookie third-round pick out of Syracuse who was recovering from an ACL tear at the beginning of the season. He's been part of a prominent rookie trio in Arizona's secondary that includes Starling Thomas and Kei'Trel Clark.

Antonio Hamilton is currently operating as the team's CB1.
