Former Cardinals Linebacker to Seek Trade
ARIZONA--According to a report from Ian Rapaport, all-pro linebacker and former Arizona Cardinals Haason Reddick was granted permission to seek a trade.
Reddick is 29 years old, coming off another extremely productive season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and capping off his fourth straight NFL season with double-digit sacks.
His overall best season came as a member of now-Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon's defensive unit with Philly in 2022, a season in which he racked up 16 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, five force fumbles with three recovered and a career-high in 16 sacks on 26 total QB hits.
Reddick received Defensive Player of the Year votes in 2022, and was voted onto the All-Pro second team.
But it wasn't just 2022 that showed his prowess. Reddick has been a consistent producer at a variety of spots on the field, spending time as an edge rusher and an off-ball linebacker.
Although he struggled to win the majority of starts with the Arizona Cardinals in his first three seasons, he never missed a game due to injury, and always took advantage of the opportunities he was given.
In his first three seasons of action, he collected 7.5 sacks. But in 2020, he exploded for nearly double his career total, totaling 12.5 in the COVID season. He never looked back, eclipsing 10 sacks each year since. In two seasons with the Eagles, working with Gannon, he exceeded his four-year Cardinals sack total by seven, with 27 over his last two seasons.
Reddick is an impact player with a high motor, and began to excel in a full time EDGE role with Philadelphia.
Now that he's been granted the ability to seek a trade destination, and with major holes on the Cardinals' D-line and edge positions, Reddick could be a reunion candidate that would fit right in, and be an immediate contributor to Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis' unit.
While the price could prove to be steep, the two-time pro bowler would be an instant boost to a defense that struggled to even make quarterbacks mildly uncomfortable in 2023.
