Where Cardinals Fall in Post-Free Agency Power Rankings

The Arizona Cardinals didn't climb too far after their free agency period.

ARIZONA -- The Arizona Cardinals didn't make a splash in free agency, though the organization did fill numerous holes on the defensive side of the football, signing two starters along the defensive line in Bilal Nichols/Justin Jones plus a starting corner in Sean Murphy-Bunting, topped with linebacker Mack Wilson - who could either pair with Kyzir White on the inside or operate as an edge rusher.

The Cardinals also snagged offensive lineman Jonah Williams, who is sure to start on whatever side Paris Johnson Jr. starts opposite of moving into 2024.

Flashy by no means, though Arizona is fairly confident in their additions moving forward.

That didn't move them up much through the world of NFL power rankings.

In The Athletic's post free agency power rankings, the Cardinals ranked at No. 31 out of 32 NFL clubs - edging out only the Carolina Panthers for the bottom spot.

Josh Kendall: "The Cardinals seem to be waiting for the draft to make their offseason noise, which makes sense considering they have six picks in the top 90. The addition of the former Bengal Williams will allow Arizona to make Paris Johnson Jr. its fixture at left tackle if it prefers. Jones and Nichols bolster a defensive line for a team that was 31st in the NFL in scoring defense last year (26.8)."

It was unlikely Arizona did anything to change their bottom ranking, and like Kendall suggested, the 2024 NFL Draft will see the most avenue for improvement moving forward, which is certainly something general manager Monti Ossenfort was planning for anyways.

Many believe the Cardinals can improve on their four-win total from 2023 with a healthy Kyler Murray in the fold.

Recently, Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer revealed exactly when the team knew Murray was their guy moving into 2024:
