Chargers News: 2 Former Jim Harbaugh Michigan Players Visiting LA Tuesday

Jim Harbaugh will be seeing two familiar faces on Tuesday.

Two of his former Michigan Wolverines are heading to the Los Angeles Chargers for pre-draft visits. Michigan linebacker Junior Colson and defensive tackle Kris Jenkins will both visit the Chargers, nine days before the 2024 NFL Draft commences, via NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Not only will Colson and Jenkins reunite with their former college head coach on the visit, but likely former defensive coordinator Jesse Minter as well, who has now taken the same role with the Chargers. Colson and Jenkins were part of Minter's championship-winning Michigan defense that was one of the best in the nation in 2023. The Wolverines gave up an average of just 247 yards per game, fewest in the FBS. The Wolverines also held the No. 1 scoring defense in 2023, allowing just 10.4 points per game, helping them on their way to winning the national championship.

Colson recorded 95 tackles and two pass breakups during the 2023 season. The 6-foot-3 linebacker also made second-team All-Big-Ten twice during his collegiate career.

Jenkins, the son of former Carolina Panthers and New York Jets defensive tackle Kris Jenkins, enters the NFL Draft after spending four seasons at Michigan. During his final season with the Wolverines, Jenkins tallied 37 total tackles, 2.5 sacks and one interception as he became a second-team All-American.

Linebacker and defensive tackle are not the Chargers' biggest needs in the draft, but either player could provide a valuable mid-round pick, especially due to their familiarity with Harbaugh and Minter.
