Chargers Meeting With Star SEC Pass Rusher This Week

The Los Angeles Chargers hold the fifth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, a pick that many believe to be one of the more crucial of the entire draft. Whatever the Chargers do will have a direct impact on many other teams.

They have been expected to take either a wide receiver or an offensive lineman with pick No. 5, but there has also been speculation about them trading back as well. In this scenario, the Bolts would pick up a second first round selection in all likelihood, giving them more ways to fill the holes in the roster.

One place that the Bolts do need help on is within their defensive front. They still have Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa but would like to get younger and faster. Los Angeles has scheduled a pre-draft meeting with one of the best defensive players in the entire draft, edge rusher Dallas Turner out of the University of Alabama.

Turner was special for the Crimson Tide this past season, posting 53 total tackles, with 14.5 of them for loss. He also added 10 sacks across the 14 games he played in.

His ability to get into the backfield is special and he was a big reason for the revival of the Alabama defense this season. Turner would fit in well with the Bolts, giving them a potential star in the making to work around.

He likely wouldn't be taken at pick No. 5 but could be selected if the Chargers were to move back in the round a little bit. This is certainly something to watch for going forward but Turner would be a home run pick for Los Angeles.
