Chargers Pick Up Star SEC OT After Trading Back In Latest NFL Mock Draft

When the Los Angeles Chargers brought in new head coach Jim Harbaugh, it was expected that the roster would move toward more of his type of players. Harbaugh loves to build through the trenches on both sides of the ball, including having a strong running game on offense.

With this, his teams typically need big, strong offensive linemen who can move well. As the NFL Draft quickly approaches, the Bolts are expected to look for more offensive line help. It was a problem for the Chargers last season and Harbaugh is determined to fix the issue.

In a new mock draft, NFL.com's Gennaro Filice has the Bolts making a trade with the Minnesota Vikings to earn extra draft capital. They move pick No. 5 to land No. 11 and No. 23, giving them two first-rounders.

With pick No. 11, the Bolts take a star offensive tackle out of the University of Alabama. That would be JC Latham, who shined bright for the Crimson Tide and would instantly help bolster the Bolts' offensive line.

"A highly pedigreed, gargantuan mauler of a right tackle? Sounds like a perfect first pick of the Jim Harbaugh era in Los Angeles."

Latham is quick in pass sets and moves like a guard while blocking like a tackle. He is regarded as one of the better prospects in the draft class, so the Bolts would be wise to take him here.

His length and strength should work well in the system that Harbaugh will have in place, helping improve their running game. Latham could end up being the best lineman taken in this draft class, so the Chargers may not be able to pass on him if this scenario were to play out in this manner.
