Chargers Take Former Jim Harbaugh Star Offensive Weapon in Latest Mock Draft

As the Los Angeles Chargers continue their offseason, their eyes are focused on the upcoming NFL Draft. The Bolts are looking to make a splash with their draft picks, potentially even trading back in the first round to grab some additional draft assets.

The Bolts have needs all over the roster, including at the running back position. After letting Austin Ekeler walk in free agency, the Chargers did sign Gus Edwards to a deal. But Edwards may be better suited to play in a running back committee, so the Bolts may look to draft someone.

In his latest NFL Mock Draft for NFL.com, draft analyst Chad Reuter has the Chargers taking a familiar name to head coach Jim Harbaugh. That would be running back Blake Corum, who starred for Harbaugh while at the University of Michigan. In this scenario, the Bolts would take Corum with their second-round pick, giving them a special player entering the league.

Nobody knows how dominant Corum has been over the last few years than Harbaugh. He was the workhorse for the Wolverines, helping lead them to a National Championship last season. The senior running back rushed for 1,245 yards and 27 touchdowns last season over 15 games played.

While teams may be hesitant about his amount of work at the college level, Corum has shown the ability to push through and dominate. The Chargers could use him as their power back, creating a nice pairing with Edwards.

It can be risky to take a running back in the second round, but Corum had a special connection to Harbaugh. We may see the two reunited in the NFL, which could be a special story in itself.
