Chargers News: How Team Intends To Approach Deficit At Key Offensive Position

The Los Angeles Chargers have holes all over their roster at this time, but will soon be adding major talent. This will come through the upcoming NFL Draft and the finish of free agency, notably within their wide receiver department.

After trading away star wide receiver Keenan Allen and releasing Mike Williams, the Bolts are left with a very lackluster group of pass-catchers. They are expected to use their first-round selection on either a wide receiver or offensive tackle, giving them more help on the offensive side of the ball.

Passing game coordinator Marcus Brady spoke about the plans of the team, confirming how they plan to approach the rest of the offseason.

“We’ll see what’s available to us throughout the draft, throughout the finish of free agency, as well as working with the guys that are here, and then kind of go from there,” Brady said.

If the Chargers can add a game-changer at the receiver position, it would give this team more of a fighting chance next season. While the Bolts aren't expected to be true contenders, they could always shock everyone, especially given that they have a star at the quarterback position.

Los Angeles is determined to get themselves back into a place of contention, especially with new head coach Jim Harbaugh in the mix. He will need to prove that his hiring was a good choice by the organization and the clock started the minute he signed his deal.

Losing a player like Allen did hurt the Chargers, but the team has been working to salvage their cap space situation all offseason. They are much better off now than they were and adding a rookie contract for a big-time wide receiver can only help the matter.
