NFL Insider Doesn't See Chargers Taking WR With First-Round Pick

The Los Angeles Chargers have some big decisions to make regarding their first-round draft pick this year. Los Angeles holds the fifth overall selection, giving them a chance to take one of the better players in the entire draft class.

There has been talk about them taking either a wide reciever or offensive lineman with the pick. Additionally, there has been speculation about the team potentially trading down to net more draft capital. But one NFL Insider doesn't believe it will be a tough decision for the Bolts after all.

Bucky Brooks of NFL.com believes that the Chargers will end up taking an offensive lineman with their pick, to satisfy the style of play that new head coach Jim Harbaugh wants to build out. He spoke about it on Bleav in Chargers.

"To me, I would almost put my entire paycheck that [Harbaugh’s] first pick will not be a pass-catcher. It’s going to be someone that’s at the line of scrimmage.”

The Bolts do need help along their offensive line and Harbaugh tends to build his teams with strong play in the trenches. Taking an offensive lineman wouldn't be a bad pick by any means but the Chargers may have a need at the wide receiver position a little more.

This is a similar conundrum that the Cincinnati Bengals faced a few years ago when they opted to take receiver Ja'Marr Chase over Penei Sewell. It has worked out very well for Cincinnati so maybe the Chargers take a page out of their playbook.
