Pro Football Focus Analyst Picks Chargers to Win AFC West For One Reason

The Los Angeles Chargers will look to do the impossible in 2024, winning the AFC West. It's been the Kansas City Chiefs division for the last eight years. Before that, it was the Denver Broncos division to lose. The Chargers have yet to win the division since 2009. It was their 15th time winning the AFC West, and the Bolts will seek their 16th one in 2024.

Winning the division will be challenging, but Pro Football Focus analyst Mike Florio believes the Bolts can get it done in 2024. Florio and Myles Simmons played a round of "Take Your Pick" between the two LA football teams, the Chargers and the Rams.

One of the questions was who had a better chance of winning the division between the two; Florio picked the Chargers. One big reason why he did so was because of their coach, Jim Harbaugh.

"I could see them coming out of the gates a hot team, taking over the division, holding off the Chiefs. It's Jim Harbaugh. It's the Jim Harbaugh effect and I am here for it."

These are the types of expectations the Chargers are looking to have with Harbaugh at the helm. Harbaugh is more than capable of turning things around in Los Angeles and in a hurry. He did it with less as the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers from 2011-20214.

The 60-year-old coach will have the weight of the world on his shoulders, but there's no other way he would want it. Harbaugh came here for the challenge and to turn this organization around. The Bolts needed to hire the perfect head coach, and they did. The next step is to turn them into a formidable foe and challenge the Chiefs for the top spot in the AFC West.

A Super Bowl will be in their sights, but the first step will be to claim the division between Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. That's one daunting task.
