Former Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams, who the team cut last week in an effort to get cap compliant, has found his next home.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapaport, Williams has signed with the New York Jets. The deal is for one year and worth up to $15 million.

Williams, 29, was drafted in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Chargers.

Williams spent his entire career with the Bolts up until this offseason, when they needed to free up some money to get under the cap.

Williams was ultimately released, although there were reports that the team wanted to bring him back on a more team-friendly deal.

In the end, that didn't happen.

Williams has joined quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, as they look to have a bounce back season after losing their star QB after just three plays in 2023.

Williams will be a great weapon for Rodgers, as the former Clemson product has produced in his NFL career when healthy.

In 88 career games, Williams has 309 catches for 4,806 yards and 31 touchdowns.

His best season came in 2021, when he appeared in all 16 games and reeled in career-highs in catches (76) and yards (1,146). He had nine touchdowns in 2021, but his career-high is 10, which he caught in 2018.

This will be Williams' first opportunity to play on a new team, and he'll be catching passes from the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

The Chargers and Jets don't play in the 2024 regular season, so if the Chargers want to meet up with their former teammate this season, it'll have to be in the playoffs.
