Chargers News: Elite Tight End Visiting Los Angeles Today

With the No. 5 pick in next week's impending NFL draft, the college football world is seemingly the Los Angeles Chargers' oyster.

Although generational quarterback talents like Caleb Williams and Drake Maye seem likely to be off the board, LA may have its own generational arm in incumbent Pro Bowler Justin Herbert, who's still just 26. The team has plenty of holes around Herbert, really on both sides of the ball.

Now, it appears the Bolts are at least doing their due dilligence in the lead-up to the draft. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that star Georgia Bulldogs tight end Brock Bowers is visiting Los Angeles today, hot off meetings with the Chicago Bears (who possess the Nos. 1 and 9 picks in the first round, though the No. 1 pick is pretty much earmarked for Williams) and the New York Jets (who have the No. 10 pick).

The versatile Bowers is an elite blocking tight end who can also function as a slot receiver. He'll help shore up the Chargers' offense from the start of training camp. But would LA even need to draft as high as No. 5 to select Bowers, when teams lower in the draft are chatting him up? Time will.
