Former NFL CB Weighs in on Who Chargers Should Select With First Round Pick

The NFL Draft is less than a month away, and the new Los Angeles Chargers regime is getting ready to select their first draft class for the Chargers. The Chargers are in prime position with their first-round pick, holding the No. 5 pick in the draft. Multiple teams picking before the Chargers are expected to take a quarterback, meaning the Chargers will have some great options of players available.

The question now is which player the Chargers will take. Former NFL cornerback Darius Butler revealed his take, that the Chargers should take a wide receiver now that they've lost Mike Williams and Keenan Allen.

"You gotta go wide receiver here," Butler told Kay Adams on the Up and Adams podcast. "Maybe Marvin Harrison's even there if the first four picks are quarterbacks. Malik Nabers, I honestly would be good with both of them. Both of these guys are wide receiver ones, they're dynamic threats the first day they enter the NFL."

Though Butler believes in both Harrison and Nabers, he definitely thinks Harrison is the obvious choice if both players are available.

"Marvin Harrison Jr., if he's there at five, you gotta go and take him," Butler said. "You have to give Herbert that weapon."

At this point, Harrison and Nabers are considered two of the favorite players for the Chargers to take fifth overall. Though the Chargers like their top two receivers Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer, they do plan to expand their receiving group. While they could take a receiver later in the draft or free agency, their best options appear to be with that first-draft pick.
