NFL Insider Sees Chargers Double-Dipping at Key Position During NFL Draft

The Los Angeles Chargers have nine draft picks as we sit outside of two weeks before the 2024 NFL draft.

It's vital for the Chargers to hit on many of these picks, especially since they've lost more than they've gained thus far this offseason.

The offense is the focal point right now; however, we can't forget how dreadful the defense was in 2023. The Chargers had among the worst defenses in the league last season, and there are some young prospects who could make an impact alongside new defensive coordinator Jesse Minter.

This draft class is loaded, and because of that, NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein believes the Bolts should select not just one but two cornerbacks two weekends from now.

"I could absolutely see [picking two corners]," Zierlein said. "Looking at the depth, I think there's room to challenge for two spots minimum. I would think about drafting twice.

The Chargers not only had among the worst defenses in the league but also among the worst secondaries in the league in 2023. The Bolts ranked 29th in passing defense, allowing 249.8 yards a game, and allowed 7.1 yards per pass, ranked 28th in the league.

"I would probably make that one of my priorities," Zierlein added. "One inside the first two days and one on Day 3."

It was abysmal; however, LA will look to do a complete 180 with Minter and possibly multiple young players.

Although the Bolts currently have nine picks, that number could increase once we get to the draft weekend. Even if it doesn't, don't be surprised if most of LA's picks are on the defensive side.

The Bolts have no other way to go but up on defense.
