Chargers Awarded One Compensation Pick for 2024 NFL Draft

Los Angeles gains an extra pick from losing a free agent last offseason.

The NFL finalized their compensation picks for the 2024 NFL Draft, with the Los Angeles Chargers adding one pick in the seventh round. Los Angeles will get pick No. 253, giving them an extra selection to use.

They are receiving the pick for losing free agent Drue Tranquill last offseason. He signed with the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs, after spending a few seasons with the Bolts. He helped Kansas City win the Super Bowl this past season, earning two tackles in the big game.

Los Angeles will take any extra picks, as they have a lot of work to do across their roster this offseason. After finishing 5-12, the Chargers need to bring in more depth around the edges while also upgrading talent in different spots.

With new head coach Jim Harbaugh now in the mix, the Bolts are seen as a contender by many. There is a certain buzz that surrounds them now, something that they have been lacking for some time.

The draft is where teams can build for the future, and the Bolts could use some luck with their picks. They need to start getting quality players on cheaper deals, which is something the front office is likely thinking about entering the process.
