Chargers News: Austin Ekeler Shares Insights on Tweet That Went Viral Before Sunday's Week 4 Matchup
Your Los Angeles Chargers sit at 2-2 heading into their Week 5 bye week. The Bolts lucked out on another thriller matchup with their division rival, the Las Vegas Raiders.
LA didn't make it easy (as always), but who said it would be? Especially without many of their top players, including running back Austin Ekeler. Ekeler missed his third game in a row this past Sunday; however, for a split minute, we all thought he would play. Approximately four hours before kickoff, Ekeler posted this tweet with a lightning bolt as the caption.
Fans went wild in the comments, as those who saw the tweet thought he would play even though he was listed as doubtful before being ruled out.
Nonetheless, this tweet went viral, and ultimately, he didn't play. He let many fans down without even knowing. So, on his latest podcast, "Ekeler's Edge," he explained what he meant in the tweet.
It was never his intention to mislead fans; he just wanted to support his team and teammates. Having Ekeler out there would have been nice, but with the bye week ahead, there was no need to push it, and we're glad he didn't.
He did reassure fans that he is feeling better and should be out there for their Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys at home. LA will want to get over .500 for the first time this season, and with Eekelr out there, their chances would go up significantly.
Things seem to be going according to plan for Ekeler, and although this week will suck without Charger football, it will be great to get some rest and get back on the saddle next week.
