Chargers News: Bolts Running Backs Coach Spotted at USC's Pro Day

The Chargers running backs coach has been spotted at USC's pro day.

The Los Angeles Chargers signed Gus Edwards to a deal, giving them a potential day-one starter for the 2024 season. Edwards could be a viable three-down back, but the team will need a boost to the position.

Both Isaiah Spiller and Elijah Dotson might not be the best options moving forward, and the Chargers are doing their due diligence by scouting young college talent.

USC's Pro Day is happening today, and the Chargers have sent current running backs coach Kiel McDonald to the frontlines to view the talent coming from the Southern California school.

McDonald and the rest of the scouts for the running backs side of things are at USC to view the Pro Day performance from MarShawn Lloyd. Lloyd made a name for himself by securing 820 yards and 9 TDs in 2023.

Many mock drafts have Lloyd going to a team in the fourth round, and the Chargers could be poised to secure the USC RB with their #105 pick.

Lloyd could offer upside to the RB room for the Chargers, especially if he sits behind Edwards. This would mean the Spiller and/or Dotson would end up on the practice squad or be cut from the team after training camp.
