Chargers News: Bolts Sign Veteran Tight End to Active Roster

They worked quickly to replace Tre' McKitty.

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed veteran tight end Nick Vannett to the active roster, the team announced on Wednesday night.

This comes a day after the team waived TE Tre' McKitty, which you can read more about here.

The team clearly wanted to upgrade that spot that McKitty has held for the last few seasons, and they did it in the form of Vannett.

Vannett, entering his eighth year in the NFL, was drafted in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He spent three-and-a-half years in Seattle, before finishing the 2019 season in Pittsburgh with the Steelers.

He then spent 2020 and 2021 with the New Orleans Saints, before playing three games of 2022 in New Orleans and six with the New York Giants.

In his career, Vannett has caught 90 passes for 874 yards and six touchdowns. He's now the fourth tight end on the roster, alongside Gerald Everett, Donald Parham Jr. and Stone Smartt.
