Chargers News: Justin Herbert Makes Bold Prediction About Coach Jim Harbaugh

The Pro Bowler weighs in.

During a visit to Callaway Golf for a fitting earlier this week, Callaway's social media team posed a bold question to Pro Bowl Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert: who, between himself and his brand-new head coach Jim Harbaugh, would win in an 18-hole match play head-to-head?

Herbert proved self-effacing in his response.

"First off, I'm really excited to get to work with him. I've only heard great things as a coach, as a person, as a leader. But out of respect, I think he's going to win an 18-hole match. I'm sure he's a really good golfer, I haven't seen his golf game yet but maybe we'll get around to that one day.

When asked how many holes it would take for Harbaugh to secure a victory in said 18-hole match-play contest, Herbert was blunt.

"If it's stroke play, he'd probably take the first nine and he's got it," Herbert opined. "So I haven't been able to play a whole lot recently so I'll get back into it. Maybe I'll be able to compete but I'm sure he's pretty good."

After canning Brandon Staley late into a doomed regular season and allowing his interim replacement Giff Smith to depart during the offseason, Los Angeles splurged on Harbaugh, fresh off his CFP title with the Michigan Wolverines.
