Chargers Set to Host Star Titans CB in Free Agency Visit

Will the Chargers add to their secondary?

Are the Los Angeles Chargers adding a defensive back?

The Chargers are set to host former Tennessee Titans cornerback and free agent Kristian Fulton. Fulton will fly to Los Angeles on Wednesday and get dinner with the Chargers, before visiting the team Thursday, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The 25-year-old former second-round pick out of LSU in 2020 is a free agent for the first time in his career, after spending his entire career to this point with the Titans.

In his last season with the Titans, Fulton had 46 total tackles and five pass breakups. Fulton has accumulated 150 total tackles, one sack, one forced fumble, four interceptions, and 25 pass breakups through his young career.

Though Fulton has good speed and talent, he did struggle in 2023. When targeted, opposing passers completed 75.5% of their passers against him and gave up a 114.1 passer rating, both the worst rates of his career.

However, Fulton was also dealing with a hamstring injury during the season, which ultimately caused him to finish the year on Injured Reserve. When healthy, Fulton can likely play better.

If the Chargers do add him, they would hope Fulton can help improve a Chargers defense that ranked third-last in pass defense in 2023, giving up an average of 249.8 yards per game.

The Chargers are looking to add depth to their secondary and cornerback group largely after J.C. Jackson proved to be a bust signing last year. Though the Chargers had a strong safety tandem in Derwin James and Alohi Gilman, and cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. showed improvement, they could use another key player.
