Chargers' Justin Herbert Impresses Crucial New Coach

New Los Angeles Chargers pass game coordinator Marcus Brady has met with his most important charge, and it seems to have gone pretty darn well.

Per Charger Report's own James Brizuela, Brady offered up a rave review of LA's Pro Bowl quarterback Justin Herbert.

"He's massive when you first see him," Brady reflected on the 6'6" former Oregon Duck. "He's got the big arm, so he can catch the field... he does well at all three phases of the game."

Herbert has come under fire by some national pundits recently for some mixed results with regard to his late game decision-making, but he does indeed have a heck of an arm. Herbert, selected with the sixth pick in the 2020 draft, enjoyed another prolific season last year, despite missing four contests. He passed for 3,134 yards and 20 touchdowns (against seven interceptions), while notching a 64.1 quarterback rating, fifth in the NFL.

Brady, a Morse native who was himself a former CBA quarterback from 2002-08, has enjoyed a lengthy coaching career since hanging up his cleats. Following a nine-year CBA coaching stint as a wide receivers coach and offensive coordinator from 2009-17, he latched on with the Indianapolis Colts as the team's assistant quarterbacks coach in 2018, before being promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2019, and to offensive coordinator from 2021-22. He served in multiple capacities for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2022-23.
