Chargers News: Star Defender Reflects On How LA Is Evolving Under Jim Harbaugh

Los Angeles Chargers offensive lineman Tuli Tuipulotu's impressive rookie season was one of the few things that went right for the Bolts in 2023.

Following a solid stint with the USC Trojans during which he was a two-time All-Pac-12 First Teamer, a unanimous All-American, the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and a Morris Trophy winner, the Hawthorne native enjoyed an action-packed run with LA. While playing all 17 contests for the club, he recorded 53 total tackles (37 solo, 16 assisted), two forced fumbles, one recovered fumble and one pass deflection. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team for his efforts last year.

Now, in talking to KCAL's Chris Hayre for a Sports Central LA segment, Tuipulotu has unpacked how a new-look Los Angeles squad is responding to its new head coach, who joins the franchise with the winningest regular season record in the NFL among active coaches.

When asked what the vibe is like for him and some of the other incumbent players who have been carried over from last year's underwhelming 5-12, Tuipulotu offered a frank solution. "Just like the fans, we're excited too, but I also think there's a lot of pressure with that. A lot of people are expecting us to do what we need to do and get back up there, but we usually handle business every single day, we go day-by-day, and we're all excited."
