Injury Report: Chiefs RB Damien Williams Remains Out, LeSean McCoy Back at Work

Matt Derrick

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs running back Damien Williams didn't practice on Wednesday, increasing the likelihood he may miss a second-straight game with a knee injury.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill (shoulder) and left tackle Eric Fisher (groin) also did not practice on Wedesday. Neither player expects to take the field on Sunday when the Chiefs visit the Detroit Lions.

Last week Reid described Williams' injury as a bone bruise. The club hasn't established a timeline for his potential return. The same holds true for both Hill and Fisher.

Running back LeSean McCoy did practice in a limited role on Wednesday after exiting Sunday's game against Baltimore due to his lingering ankle injury. Reid praised the veteran for putting into the rehab work required to get back on the field.

“It's one of those injuries where the more you work the better you're going to get, but it takes a lot of time and effort and you got to kind of push through somethings there,” Reid said. “And he did, he worked it, and as a result he was able to play.”

Reid said he hoped McCoy's rehab effort serves as an example to other players.

“There are certain injuries you can't do that with,” Reid explained, “but this is one that you can and you're not going to hurt your career or your future to be able to walk or anything.”

The Lions started the practice week with a trio of key players battling injuries. Wide receiver Danny Amendola left Sunday's 27-24 win over Philadelphia with a shoulder injury, and defensive tackle Mike Daniels exited after injuring his right foot. Cornerback Darius Slay did work in a limited capacity after suffering a hamstring against Eagles. His availability this Sunday remains a question mark for the Lions.

McCoy played well last Sunday. I'd love to see him as the lead back but don't want to wear him out. He brings a different dynamic to this offense when he is out there with Mahomes. Damien needs to get back to help split time again with him.
