Despite Losing a Starter, the Chiefs' Offensive Line Excelled in Their 34-20 Victory Over the Ravens

After a lackluster performance from the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive line a week ago got them into hot water with the fans, the unit lost a starter but not a step in their 34-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

There's a strong possibility that I might be the "offensive line guy" here at Arrowhead Report and let me tell you, I'm very OK with that.

As one myself — an ex-center, not a big deal — in my glory days at Trenton High School, I tend to be more sensitive to the nuances in the trenches and am more inclined to give the big fellas a nod.

After the verbal beating they took from fans on Twitter, they deserve a whole story dedicated to singing their praises.

That's one of the topics we touch on in today's episode of Roughing the Kicker with Arrowhead Report's Jordan Foote. He joins me to recap the big Chiefs win on Monday Night Football.

Just over a week ago, pundits were calling Kansas City's offensive line "washed up" and saying they've "lost a step," but on Monday night, there were no signs of that.

The crew faced adversity early with right guard Andrew Wylie sent to the hospital with a non-COVID-19 related illness. But despite the loss, Chiefs' utility lineman Mike Remmers filled in and played beautifully. He went virtually unnoticed which is a perfect game for a lineman.

In a matchup where the Ravens sent the blitz on 47% of their defensive plays, Mahomes didn't take a sack and was 17 of 20 against the blitz while collecting 240 yards and three touchdowns.

I mean, even Eric Fisher caught a touchdown and showed off some of his No. 1 overall draft pick athleticism.

So I raise my glass to the offensive line for not only rising to expectations but exceeding them in a game that had playoff bye implications. They deserve a toast.
