Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was involved in a major automotive accident in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, March 30. On April 4, Rice's attorney confirmed that Rice was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles.

Royce West, Rice's attorney and a Texas state senator, spoke to media on Thursday and confirmed that Rice was driving the Lamborghini SUV involved in the crash, a fact that West said Rice told the Dallas Police Department. According to TMZ, one of Rice's friends was driving Rice's Corvette while Rice drove the 2021 Lamborghini he was leasing for $1,749 per day.

"Mr. Rice wants to make certain, understood and appreciated, that he’s going to do everything in his power to bring their life back to as normal as possible in terms of injuries, in terms of property damage, will make certain that he is responsible for helping them to get through that particular part of this," West said, according to FOX4.

West also told media that Rice has spoken with Dallas police twice since the accident, first contacting them on Sunday night, according to CBS News.

"He has fully cooperated with the Dallas Police Department, every question that was asked of him, he responded to," West said. "We will continue to cooperate with them in terms of this particular accident."

On Wednesday, Rice posted a statement to his Instagram Stories apologizing for his role in the crash.

"Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident," Rice's statement began. "I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to cooperate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologize to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident."
