Dan Quinn: 'Where I'm Supposed to Be' as Commanders Coach

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn interviewed for a host of openings, one being his former team the Seattle Seahawks, but Quinn feels that in the nation's capital, he's where he is supposed to be.

Dan Quinn was involved in several head coaching interviews after the Dallas Cowboys were dumped out of the playoffs. While ending up in Washington, Dallas' rivals, wasn't on many people's bingo cards, it does have a good feel to it.

When Pete Carroll was moved on in Seattle, the consensus was that Quinn, who was part of the coaching staff that developed the famous Legion of Boom, would be the Seahawks' top candidate.

But it was Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald who would "win" the job, and Quinn would find his way to Washington.

When asked at the Scouting Combine about his interview with the Seahawks, Quinn had a short, yet pointed answer that will be music to the ears of Commanders fans.

“I think I'm where I'm supposed to be," Quinn said.

Now that Quinn has gotten his feet wet in his new surroundings, the time has come to start building the roster and looking at getting his new team firing on all cylinders.

Part of that is what the Commanders will do with the No. 2 overall pick. With general manager Adam Peters liking what he sees in Sam Howell, the chance to draft a quarterback like Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, or even Caleb Williams if the Chicago Bears do something outrageous, is too tempting to pass up.

With all the coaching positions filled, attention turns to plugging roster holes through free agency and the draft.

It is a defining offseason for Washington as with new ownership led by Josh Harris along with new Peters and Quinn, things are coming along.

But Quinn will likely be judged by how the team approaches free agency and the draft as he wasn't the most popular hire as the new "trend" is to take young, offensive-minded coaches.

However, Quinn has the experience to navigate these waters and after being a head coach in Atlanta, to then the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Dan gets another shot as a head coach in the NFL.

And that is where he is "supposed" to be.
