Washington Commanders Fans Can 'Get Jayden Daniels Jerseys', Says Insider

Adam Schefter believes the Washington Commanders have decided on their quarterback of the future.

With the NFL Draft less than two weeks away, the Washington Commanders may have finally landed on who they want as their quarterback of the future.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter went on the Trap or Dive podcast and hinted that the Commanders have decided on LSU quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels as their choice with the No. 2 overall pick.

"I think you can go get those Jayden Daniels jerseys," Schefter said.

The Washington Commanders have long been linked to the reigning Heisman Trophy winner, so Schefter saying fans could go as far as getting his jersey isn't the biggest shock in the world. Daniels is also the betting favorite on DraftKings and FanDuel to be Washington's pick in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Daniels is listed as a -175 favorite on DraftKings and -170 on FanDuel.

Daniels threw for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns, and he ran for 1,134 yards and scored 10 times on the ground for the Tigers in 2023. His ability as a dual-threat quarterback also points to him likely being a better fit in offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury's offense given his track record in college and his four-year stint coaching Kyler Murray as the Arizona Cardinals head coach.

Daniels is set to meet with the Commanders on Monday and Tuesday. Fellow top quarterback, Drake Maye, is also set to visit the team next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With the draft under two weeks away, there's still time for the Commanders to change their minds if they've already settled on which quarterback they're taking. But if things continue to trend the way it has gone for much of the draft process, it appears more than likely Daniels will be the guy general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn tab as their quarterback of the future.
