2024 NFL Mock Draft: Commanders in Top 10?

The Washington Commanders are slated as the sixth overall pick in 2024 in a recent mock draft, and that insinuates a rough 2023.

The Washington Commanders hope to return to prominence in 2023 and avoid their fourth consecutive season under .500 with Ron Rivera at the helm.

However, a recent mock draft expects the trend to continue, slating the Commanders at pick No. 6 for the 2024 NFL Draft.

"The unfortunate aspect of this mock draft is the Commanders are picking at No. 6," USA Today writes. "If Washington ends the season bad enough to pick at No. 6, don’t be surprised if the Commanders, under a new owner, make a bold move for a young quarterback."

With a quarterback battle between Sam Howell and Jacoby Brissett taking place currently, a dismal 2023 from both signal callers could result in a revamp at the position.

However, given the strength of the offensive linemen at the top of the draft class, this mock sends Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt to the Commanders.

Alt, son of former Kansas City lineman and team hall of famer John Alt, stands at 6-8, 315 pounds and has started every game at tackle since his true freshman campaign in 2021.

The Commanders already drafted Ricky Stromberg and Braeden Daniels to man the offensive line in 2023, but Alt provides instant starter potential and someone who can help rebuild the foundation of the team.

Washington hopes it won't be in position to select Alt next April, but if the team was, he would be a strong pick.
