The Washington Redskins are moving on to Week 3 and their Monday Night Football matchup with the Chicago Bears. FedExField will host its first prime-time game of the year in an early season must-win for the Redskins. Before the road clears up for the critical NFC matchup, the Redskins news on Tuesday took a look back at the weekend that was. While the Redskins' defense has let up points, they also have big names ready to make plays. On one hand, they took home the top NFC East defensive play of the week according to our team here at Redskin Maven, but they also had their vocal leader, Josh Norman pontificate about his thoughts on the media, ready to throw barbs at any and everyone while failing to recognize his own poor play, including getting beat on a play that came straight out of the Redskins own playbook on Sunday.

While Norman and the defense try to compose themselves, the offense is still without Jordan Reed and made moves at tight end on Tuesday as the look to sure-up the position. While the New York Giants have moved on from Eli Manning to Daniel Jones, the Redskins may not be in such a hurry to bring in their own future QB1, as the current man atop to the depth chart, Case Keenum is playing pretty darn well, all things considered.

NFCE EPA Review: Top-10 passing for Cowboys, Redskins through Week 2, Manning ew :: Redskin Maven

Grab your snack of choice and get your nerd on because analytically, the Redskins aren't half bad, particularly through the air. They just need to put the pieces together. In addition to their aerial success, the Redskins also had the NFC East's Top Defensive play in Week 2, Montae Nicholson's interception off Dak Prescott.

Get ready for some X's and O's as running backs coach Randy Jordan gives the ins and outs of the jet sweep, a play that best utilized when its least expected. Sims ran the play for an 8 yard gain against the Cowboys Week 2.

For the Redskins, 0-3 would mean doom. Here’s what they need to fix. :: Washington Post

What do the Redskins need to fix? Short answer; a lot. But, it's doable. Their quarterback is playing above average, they're scoring points, and they have the weapons on both sides of the ball to win games. They need to put it all together, and that starts at the top with head coach Jay Gruden. Gruden, among other things will look to put his defense in position to pressure the quarterback more, which will be a key to beating the Chicago Bears.

Chicago’s Mitchell Trubisky does not respond well to pass pressure, giving the Redskins an opportunity to neutralize the Bears’ passing attack Monday night. Two games into this season, Trubisky’s passer rating has dropped from 82.2 when he’s not pressured to 22.9 when he is. For reference, an incomplete pass carries a passer rating of 39.6. In other words, Chicago would have been better served if Trubisky simply threw the ball to the ground every time he faced a pass rush rather than try to make a play.

The Redskins won't pursue Jalen Ramsey and that makes sense :: NBC Sports

Ramsey is considered the best corner in the NFL, a Top-5 overall talent in the league, but that doesn't mean a fair trade can be made, even if it was possible that the Redskins should be shopping. The Redskins will need to capitalize on their draft picks over the next string of years in order to best build around future QB1 Dwayne Haskins. They'll also need to be safe with their money. Bringing in Ramsey flies in the face of both.

Redskins work out four players including tight end A.J. Derby :: FanSided

The Redskins are still shorthanded at a number of positions and brought in several free agents for workouts on Tuesday to see if they could fill in the gaps. Out of the foursome that came in, tight end A.J. Derby may have the best shot at securing a deal with Jordan Reed still out with concussion symptoms.

"...if Reed misses another week, adding Derby could be a sensible move for Washington. He would be a good temporary third option and would replace much of what Holtz could offer. A signing doesn’t seem imminent, but perhaps Derby is on the team’s shortlist if Reed can’t go."

In an interesting sister-move, the Redskins dropped tight end Donald Parham Jr. and added tight end Drew Belcher to and from their practice squad. Belcher may also get a crack at the roster if Reed stays out.

Giants' decision to start Daniel Jones puts pressure on Redskins: When is it Dwayne Haskins time? :: CBS Sports

The Giants are moving on to Daniel Jones after just two games following their 0-2 start. Like everyone's mom always said, 'If your friend jumps off a bridge, would you do it too?' While mom may have been right about whatever mischief we were causing as kids, this one's a little less clear. Highly drafted QB's are starting earlier and earlier, but there's one big difference between the Giants and Redskins' situations in 2019; Eli Manning has been awful, Case Keenum hasn't.

Cowboys use Redskins own play for a touchdown :: Mark Bullock

Well ain't that punch in the kisser? To add insult to injury, it turns out that the long touchdown pass to Devin Smith on Sunday was taken right out of the Redskins own playbook. Josh Norman had some interesting comments after the game on Sunday, but the fact remains that the cornerstone corner got beat on a play he should have recognized.

Back to those interesting comments from the article above, Norman parried Blame onto  the media for what he likely feels was mis-using his quotes in the build up to the Dallas game, calling some media members "sour apples from Hell." Norman's quickly losing favor in Washington as he fails to backup his words, and live up to his contract. It's time for Norman to look inward.
