The Washington Redskins had the Philadelphia Eagles down in the first half, but let it slip away. They had the Dallas Cowboys down in the first half, and let it slip away. At some point something's got to give. The Redskins loss on Sunday means the 0-2  with two divisional losses, not a fun place to be. While immediate change is needed, it remains to be seen just who's going to step up and what's going to spur them into action.

Jay Gruden looks every bit the lame duck head coach after two games, with fans calling for his demise. He'll rely on Case Keenum to keep the Redskins relevant while Dwayne Haskins waits in the wings. Haskins is nipping at Keenum's heels, but all indications are the Keenum is actually doing a pretty good job, all things considered. While Keenum keeps the offense together alongside fellow veteran Adrian Peterson, he'll have to continue to do it without Trent Williams, who's holdout remains stout.

K.D. Drummond breaks down Week 2 in the NFC East. The Redskins fell at the hands of the hated Cowboys, but a brighter future is in sight. Case Keenum isn't the problem for the Redskins, but sometimes shifting the paradigm at the top of the food chain is the only was to make tangible change. Dwayne Haskins is coming in sooner or later, in and in today's NFL, sooner is getting even sooner

Straight up, the Redskins lost. That sucks. But it doesn't mean that there weren't boys in maroon and gold taking names on Sunday. Up and coming wide receiver Terry McLaurin is proving to be one of the tops wide receivers in his class so far, and the third round pick comes in as the third star of the game. Landon Collins landed at No. 2 and Donald Penn, holding down the left side of the line came in at No. 1.

Trent Williams’s holdout enters third week of Redskins’ season, with no end in sight :: The Washington Post

There was hope during Week 1 of the regular season that Williams might return the following week, but that hasn't come to fruition, with Week 3 prep getting underhand on Tuesday. Williams appears to be dug in, and the Redskins seem very willing to match him.

One person with knowledge of the Redskins’ thinking said Williams is not expected to return this week ahead of Washington’s Monday night game against the Chicago Bears, despite recent media speculation that Williams might be willing to end his 3½-month holdout as early as this month.

The person said the team continues to “wait out” Williams, believing he will eventually tire of missing game checks and incurring the fines that have piled up since he began missing training camp practices. The person also said Redskins owner Daniel Snyder does not want to renegotiate Williams’s contract as a way to end the holdout.

Redskins Coach Jay Gruden demands more out of team’s ‘vanilla’ defense :: The Washington Post

Gruden stepped up to the podium after the Redskins loss to the Cowboys and stared down at the podium with a rather blank expression. When asked what needs to change, one has to wonder if he didn't think about himself. On the day after, Gruden had time to collect his thoughts, and eviscerated his team's defensive performance.

Talent, scheme or coaching, something needs to change for Redskins defense :: NBC Sports

There are a litany of things that need to improve if the Redskins are going to win games. IT starts at the top and reverberates throughout the coaching staff and roster. The Redskins have stars, they have high level players, the have experienced coaches, but the can't seem to put it together. No one change will solve the issues at hand, but it's got to start somewhere, and soon.

Overreaction Monday: The Redskins should fire DC Greg Manusky :: Redskins Wire

The Redskins offense has been good enough to win the first two games of the year, scoring 27 points against the Eagles and 21 against that Cowboys, both thought to be top end defenses. That should be enough to win in the NFL, but for the Redskins their defense has let them down. Again, against to top end offenses, but that doesn't mean the Redskins defense, stacked with talent can't stop them. In fact they should stop them, and if the can't Manusky may be packing up his office.
