News: Jay Gruden's job on the line, McLaurin's not fine, all the storylines

When the Washington Redskins and New York Giants face off on Sunday head coach Jay Gruden may be in a must-win situation, while Terry McLaurin misses Friday practice with hamstring issue.

Fourth time's a charm? The Redskins will look to secure their first win of the season when the square off against NFC East foes, the New York Giants on Sunday. The Giants themselves eeked out their first win of the year in Week 3, behind their rookie quarterback Daniel Jones. It remains to be seen when the Redskins' next in line, Dwayne Haskins will get his shot. Case Keenum comes in banged up, and with Jay Gruden potentially coaching for his job in Week 4, maybe just maybe he'll unleash Haskins during the game to give the offense a spark.

To add injury to, well...injury, Terry McLaurin missed practice on Friday with a hamstring issue that popped up mid-week, and there is no clear indication whether or not the Redskins best offensive player in 2019 will play on Sunday or not. He's joined by others, including Jordan Reed and Chase Roulier, who have both already been ruled out. Keep an eye on the Sunday inactives list, and let's hope McLaurin's name isn't on it.

Gruden has been under fire all season, and with the team staring o-4 in the face with a game against division rivals New York Giants, things could be on the bring of falling apart, especially at the top of the food chain. Daniel Snyder get heated when the Redskins get embarrassed because he sees it as reflection on himself. He would never blame himself though, he'll take his pound of flesh from Gruden instead.

Gruden and defensive coordinator Greg Manusky will lean on one of their most talented units, the defensive line to make up the difference for what the rest of the defense lacks when the Redskins take on the Giants on Sunday.

"It was a way to get the big guys on the field -- our most-talented guys -- get them matched up, try to get more one-on-ones up front and get more pressure," Gruden said when asked about the defensive alignment Tuesday."

The Redskins' star defensive backs showed support for the worthy cause, and both have ties dating back with the Boys & Girls Clubs outside of last night's event. Norman and Collins have both dedicated time to the youth in their local area.

“I ended up partnering with the Boys & Girls club just because what we do, and everything is pretty much similar in how [Boys & Girls club] go about handling the youth," Norman said. "It was just important for me to be partnered with an organization that has the stems and the arts with the physical outlet and have it under their curriculum.”

Dwayne Haskins on not being fazed by his role:: John Keim, B/R Gridron

In Keim's piece on ESPN.com yesterday he broke down some misconcetions on the Redskins quarterback rotation, most notably that Haskins is though to be upset about not starting sooner. He's not.

Redskins-Giants injury report: John Keim

Both Jordan Reed and Chase Roulier have been ruled out of Sunday's contest while Brandon Scherff and Terry McLaurin have been marked as questionable. This is knock for McLaurin, who was unable to practice at all on Friday, but it's conversely a bump for Scherff who on Friday practiced for the first time this week.
