Dallas Cowboys 'Mind-Blowing!' WR Zay Flowers Reveals NFL Draft Thoughts

“It's kind of mind-blowing," Cowboys visitor Zay Flowers recently told CowboysSI.com’s Daniel Flick in an exclusive interview, speaking on his status as an NFL prospect.

FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys filled a “need” at receiver with the Brandin Cooks trade. But what if “the right guy” who happens to be available at No. 26 in this NFL Draft happens to be a receiver …

Like Zay Flowers?

“It's kind of mind-blowing," Flowers recently told CowboysSI.com’s Daniel Flick in an exclusive interview, speaking on his stature as an NFL prospect. "I had this dream as a child, so being able to live that is going to be extraordinary and amazing."

The Cowboys have talked of wanting “play-making juice” … And while that fits Cooks, Flowers is also explosive (4.3 range in the 40) and an intriguing target as a projected first-round pick.

There is now a great deal of talk about Dallas getting a first-round target for QB Dak Prescott who is a big and long target - that is, a tight end. Flowers is none of that. He's smallish (5-9, 182 pounds) and doesn’t fit the Dallas mold in that way. But …

Flowers broke the single-season program record in touchdown receptions (12), tied the mark in receptions (78) and finished third in receiving yards (1,077). He was named the best player in the New England region and a semifinalist for the Biletnikoff Award given annually to the top wideout in college football. In total,

Flowers, who was a Dallas 30 Visitor, finished as the all-time career leader in all three above categories with 29 touchdowns, 200 receptions and 3,056 receiving yards.

He's special on the field, and perhaps more special off of it - in this era of college football where the transfer portal is increasingly popular, Flowers could've transferred ... but he didn't. Why? Loyalty, he tells Flick.

“Boston College gave me a chance to do something I dreamed about as a kid, to fulfill my dreams," said Flowers. "They were always there for me, and they gave me an opportunity, so I felt like I was indebted to them. It was right for me to stay, and it worked out best for me."

What will work out best for Flowers here on Draft Night? A first-round berth is likely his ... with the "mind-blowing'' Cowboys having him on the radar.
