FRISCO - The struggling Dallas Cowboys are starting the Wednesday practice today here at The Star and gearing up for the Sunday night visit from the Philadelphia Eagles ... but practice participation today will be sparse.

Expected to sit out: Receivers Amari Cooper and Randall Cobb, tackles Tyron Smith and La'el Collins, and cornerbacks Byron Jones and Anthony Brown.

At this early stage of this week, the Cowboys concede (as we wrote on Tuesday) that might not have Cooper at all; I’m told the thigh bruise Cooper sustained in the early going in Sunday’s loss at the Jets is problematic enough that it could need more than just this week to heal.

Cooper has been stellar this season, entering Sunday on a pace for 1,600 yards and 16 TDs - of that despite being hampered by a collection of injuries.

Meanwhile, left tackle Smith (ankle) isn't quite ready, and right tackle Collins (knee) does not project as being ready this week Defensive backs Jones and Brown are both dealing with hamstrings; Brown's availability is the greater concern.

Oh, and along with Cooper there is Cobb, dealing with a back problem. ... and D-lineman Tyrone Crawford (hips) is going on IR.

The Eagles also have their injury concerns and are also 3-3 leading up to a game that is big in the NFC East ... and big in the "game of attrition'' category.
