FRISCO - DeMarcus Lawrence says new acquisition Michael Bennett is an immediate member of the "Hot Boys.'' Fellow team captain Jaylon Smith is such a fan they traded post-game jerseys last year when Bennett was with the Eagles. And Leighton Vander Esch? He calls the Dallas Cowboys' trade pickup from the Patriots "radiant.''

“He just brings energy,” Vander Esch says of Bennett, according to Jane Slater of NFL Network. “He’s radiant, so I love that about him, and he’s going to bring even more energy like that to our defense and it’s what we need. We love guys like that.”

I don't know that I've ever before heard a football player described as "radiant.'' but I get it. Of course, the Patriots thought something along those lines, too, having added Bennett during the offseason in a trade with Philly. But Dallas coach Jason Garrett tells me that Bennett comes here with the "absolute'' endorsement as a player from Patriots coach Bill Belichick. And Jaylon Smith tells me he's been a long-time fan of Bennett's, thus the 2018 jersey trade.

And vocal defensive end Tank Lawrence's thoughts on the also-vocal 33-year-old from Texas A&M who is a three-time Pro Bowler?

“The attitude (and) the swagger that he brings, I feel like that 'Hot Boy' culture is already in him,'' said Tank of Bennett, who engaged in his first practice with the team on Tuesday here inside The Star in preparation for his debut for the 4-3 Cowboys on Monday at the Giants. "It’s just all about being with the right group.”
