FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys came out of the blowout victory on Thanksgiving over the Washington Commanders in relatively good health as they continued to survive the traditional holiday schedule crunch.

And now there is one more crunch-time obstacle to be dealt with ... and maybe just one more injury to deal with.

Standout safety Jayron Kearse was sidelined by a back issue last week that prevented him from practicing during the short week ... and that kept him out of the Thanksgiving game.

How is he looking for this Thursday visit from the Seattle Seahawks?

Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy is noting that Kearse "looks good" and has a "good chance" of playing at AT&T Stadium this week.

McCarthy said Kearse will take the “majority” of practice reps today in the workout.

Cowboys players are crediting McCarthy with manufacturing a schedule that is keeping the team fresh even during this flurry of games, and it is working on the field, as the Cowboys are at 8-3 tied for the NFC's second-best record.

Kearse is an unusual talent, a 6-4 safety who draws assignments that include everything from shadowing tight ends to rushing the passer. Second-year safety Juanyeh Thomas is prepared to help again here in Week 13 alongside Malik Hooker and Donovan Wilson if needed against a 6-5 Seahawks team that has lost two straight.

But "all hands on deck'' here is obviously, the ideal, as Kearse - near the top of the Dallas rankings in tackles and tackles for loss while also contributing 1.5 sacks and an interception - can be a difference-maker in coordinator Dan Quinn's "Dallas Doomsday'' defense.
