'Dak Is A Stud!' Dallas Cowboys Coach Praises Prescott Mentality: 'Never Changes Who He Is!'

You will be hard-pressed to find a player who divides opinion and makes national media headlines more than Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.

Often bearing the brunt of criticism when things go wrong and hardly getting the credit when things go right, it is all part of being the Cowboys quarterback.

After a poor showing against the San Francisco 49ers that left many questioning if Prescott is still the player to lead the team, he has bounced back in the most "Dak" way possible.

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has praised Prescott for how he dealt with the stinging criticism following the 49ers game, to then being nearly faultless in his last two games.

“I mean he really is a stud, he never he never changes who he is,” Schottenheimer said. “After the biggest win [vs. Rams] four touchdowns, one interception, when you see him, he's no different than he was after the 49ers game.

"That speaks to his experience, it speaks to his confidence. When you play quarterback in this league you know you're going to get a lot more blame and sometimes more credit than you deserve but I think he wears it really well and there's a inner calm about the guy that's really cool.”

Prescott has often been praised for his off-field intangibles and for being the leader of the Dallas locker room. When at the podium, Dak always says the right things, never blames anyone, and is the true epitome of a leader.

But while that's all good and well, fans still want results.

After the 49ers game, in which Dak was picked off three times and completed only 14 of 24 passes for 153 yards in the 42-10 loss, the entire NFL world had its pitchforks sharpened.

But in true Dak fashion, he's bounced back with authority.

In his last two games, Prescott has 576 yards and six total touchdowns, with completion percentages of 70% (vs. Chargers) and 80.6% (vs. Rams).

Schottenheimer has likened Prescott's ability to be a team player to that of a surefire Hall of Famer whom he once mentored.

"He's just awesome to be around, and I love getting a chance to coach him, talk ball with him," Schottenheimer said. "[He] reminds me a lot of Drew Brees [who Schottenheimer first mentored] who became one of my best friends and wired very similarly. It's not ever about them, it's about the team and what can I do to do what's best for the team, and Dak is just like Drew in that regard."

With the Cowboys and Prescott now steadying the ship after the 49ers debacle, up next is a Philadelphia Eagles team looking to take complete control of the NFC and the division.

This is the type of game where Prescott's "haters" will have all the ammunition they need if Dallas fails. Conversely, if Prescott continues his level of performance from the last fortnight, then the pitchforks will need to be put away for the week.

Prescott "never changes who he is," and we imagine that leading into Sunday's game, which has a lot riding on it, Dak will be who he's always been - the calming influence in the locker room.
