Dallas Cowboys Injury Update for Rams: 'Everybody Will Do Something!' at Practice

The Dallas Cowboys begin practice working toward good healthy for Sunday's matchup with the Los Angeles Rams

After the much-needed bye week, the health of the 4-2 Dallas Cowboys roster is still of some level of concern as they head into the second half of the 2023 season.

As Week 8 begins with a Wednesday practice inside The Star, a quick review of who is unavailable: All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs, linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, tight end Peyton Hendershot and special-teams star C.J. Goodwin are all on injured reserve.

Additionally, on Monday, head coach Mike McCarthy said that his report from athletic trainer Jim Maurer has him "not highly concerned'' about any players and their availability for a date at AT&T Stadium in Sunday's matchup with the 3-4 Los Angeles Rams.

So, the status going into Wednesday's work? Said McCarthy with an update at The Star, talking about the overall health of those players who are presently on the 53-man roster, “Everyone will do something today.”

That pronouncement doesn't mean there might not be a few guys who are on the sideline, "on the cords,'' with trainer Britt Brown. Nor does it mean that two months of NFL-caused bumps and bruises are all healed up. One example: All-Pro guard Zack Martin has been hobbled. Running back Rico Dowdle might still be working through a bruised hip. And hybrid safety/linebacker Juanyeh Thomas was inactive in the last game, at the Chargers, due to a hamstring problem.

But again, with CowboysSI.com set to attend the day's practice ... speaking generally and speaking relatively, Dallas figures to be a healthy team in first practice following bye week.
