Shannon Sharpe Trolls 'Firepower' Cowboys Over NFL Honors Awards: '1 And Done!'

Shannon Sharpe isn't playing nice with the Dallas Cowboys after their latest playoff defeat.

The Dallas Cowboys are still reeling from their latest playoff flameout, but by all accounts, Thursday should've been a good day for the franchise.

After all, four of their top players were named finalists for some of the most prestigious awards in the sport. Dak Prescott was named a finalist for Most Valuable Player, CeeDee Lamb for Offensive Player of the Year and both Micah Parsons and DaRon Bland for Defensive Player of the Year. The season may have ended in terrible fashion, but at the very least, some recognition for their top players was nice.

To some, though, the Cowboys having so many award nominees only amplifies their failure in the playoffs. This was the case for Hall of Fame tight end Shannon Sharpe, who ruthlessly trolled the team following Thursday's award announcements.

"All that fire power and like a Duke freshman hooper, 1 and done," Sharpe wrote on X

Sharpe, who is now best-known for his appearances on ESPN's First Take and similar shows, wasn't done yet, though. After a reply from Clarence Hill Jr., the Cowboys beat writer whose post Sharpe initially responded to, he fired back with another joke about Dallas' playoff futility.

"Are you looking 4 part time employment? Your season always end after 1st rd of playoffs. I can assist you," Sharpe wrote.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys and their fans, Sharpe's position is a common one in the NFL fanbase at large. The only way to silence those who think that way is to finally get over the hump and win the Super Bowl, but that looks less and less likely with each playoff shortcoming.
