Cowboys WATCH: Tyler Smith Whiffs on 1st Pitch at Rangers Game

Dallas Cowboys fans in attendance for the Texas Rangers game at Globe Life Field Thursday night likely got a good laugh seeing second-year offensive lineman Tyler Smith step up to the mound for the first pitch.

Dallas Cowboys offensive lineman Tyler Smith silenced tons of doubters during his rookie year last season after stepping in for injured All-Pro Tyron Smith and quickly becoming a productive piece for Dallas' o-line.

But if his appearance at Globe Life Field on Thursday night for the Texas Rangers' home matchup with the Los Angeles Angels is any indication, the Cowboys would be better off having Smith continue to protect Dak Prescott's blindside instead of including him in any potential jump-pass, goal-line trick play packages.

Smith was off the mark on his pitch to Rangers third base coach Tony Beasley, as the ball sailed over his head and past home plate. The crowd had a hilarious reaction as a result.

Celebrities, particular those that are athletes, tend to get playfully criticized when the ceremonial first pitch is off the mark or doesn't go to plan. Jokes about Smith's pitch will likely be headed his way, though it's easy to see the confident and laid-back 22-year-old laughing it off.

Smith has been busy with DFW sporting appearances this offseason, as he got a chance to kick a goal at halftime of a FC Dallas game in May.

Unfortunately for the Rangers (42-26), who entered Thursday's game with the third-best record in the American League fell to the Angels, 5-3, as L.A. superstar pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani went six innings on the mound and had a two-run homer at the top of the eighth that helped put the Rangers away.
