Fish Column: Fire Garrett! Burn A Cowboys Jersey! Sell the Team! (Why must I be 'Mr. Reasonable'?)

FRISCO - Gosh, I wish I felt the personal and professional freedom to be unreasonable. As it relates to what I'm hearing - 'Fire Garrett!' 'Let's burn our jerseys!' 'Jerry should sell the team!' - I hate having to be 'Mr. Reasonable' as it relates to today's Dallas Cowboys.

It's a burdensome responsibility, really, as I point out in my Video Fish Report. It'd be far more fun to pretend the Jones family has already lined up Oklahoma's Lincoln Riley to roll on into Frisco. It's be far more fun to make fun of Jason Garrett as "The Clapper.'' It'd be far more fun to be the fist-shaker and the picket-sign-holder and the guy who is waiting for the Eagles to get a 3-0 lead on Sunday at AT&T Stadium so he can pull a brown paper bag over his head and get on TV.

But I admit, I like the way our Matt Galatzan approached the issue of Dallas' three straight losses, dropping the Cowboys to 3-3: "The Process,'' Matt essentially writes, will reveal itself soon to be of championship-level ...or not. That time is coming.

That's a "responsible'' take, and once we allow The 24-Hour Rule to do its thing, it'll be the right take.

In the meantime? I celebrate your right, as a Cowboys fan, to be "unreasonable,'' because your unreasonableness serves as a nice pairing with all of Dallas' "un's.'' I celebrate your right and I recognize that there is some regular-season Hole of Hell that is deep and dark and fiery enough to force a regular-season coaching change. And I recognize, unreasonable or not, how some of you in Cowboys Nation actually want to visit there.
