FRISCO -  Michael Brockers is no longer a member of the Detroit Lions, the veteran defensive lineman having become a cap casualty by being cut.

But amid retirement speculation, CowboysSI.com is told that multiple teams have reached out to Brockers, 32, and that the Lions team captain might be compelled to sign with a contender.

A source close to the situation tells CowboysSI.com that the 6-5, 300-pound Houston native, who was a first-round pick of the Rams in the 2012 NFL Draft, “could be a fit” with the Dallas Cowboys as an interior d-lineman with leadership skills.

“I know I can still play," Brockers told the Detroit Free Press at season’s end. "I know I can still play in this league physically. … So mentally, it’s a thing that I’m kind of thinking about, but other than that, not really. I’m just finishing this year out strong and get into the offseason and see what happens after that."

With Johnathan Hankins and Carlos Watkins about to hit free agency this offseason, the Cowboys have some holes to fill in the defensive line, though it is possible Dallas will attempt to bring both of them back on affordable deals.

We will monitor the Brockers situation, too, though - including what his price tag might be. Brockers’ previous deal paid him $12 million APY.
