FRISCO - The question is about safety Earl Thomas, who has always wanted to play for the Dallas Cowboys. The answer comes from a safety who did play for Dallas, and the answer is an "if.''

This week on the ‘Teague’s Take Podcast’ with former Dallas Cowboys and Alabama great George Teague, he and host "Indy Car Tim'' address the availability of Thomas, who we and others have linked to the Cowboys each time, over the last two seasons, he’s become available.

Thomas and the Baltimore Ravens abruptly parted ways on August 23 after an on-field altercation with a teammate. The Ravens issued a statement saying they released Thomas for “personal conduct that has adversely affected” the team. And CowboysSI.com has detailed some of those "conduct'' issues, which extend well beyond one angry incident.

“He’s only a good fit if and only if we got someone who could control the defense on the back end,” Teague says. “But if we don’t know who’s going to make checks and have that green dot (signal-caller) on the helmet, he’s not a good fit.”

The Cowboys have a relative hole at the safety position since recently-acquired free-agent safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix is getting competition from journeyman Darian Thompson for snaps alongside Xavier Woods.

As CowboysSI.com was first to report, Dallas has moved rookie Reggie Robinson II from the corner position to safety to help fill this void. Meanwhile, the Joneses keep talking as if the door for Earl is at least slightly ajar.

But as it regards Earl Thomas, who signed a four-year, $55 million deal with the Ravens a year ago only to see the whole thing go sour? George Teague sounds concerned that Thomas-in-Dallas might go sour again.
