Austin out, Wilson up and Taco in limbo as Cowboys juggle Week 2 roster

FRISCO – The Tavon Austin concussion issue is forcing the Dallas Cowboys to perform some weekend roster gymnastics.
Tavon will be inactive for Sunday's game at Washington. In the veteran receiver's place, to some degree, will be receiver Cedrick Wilson, the sixth-round draft pick in 2018 from Boise State who spent last season on injured reserve.
To make room for Wilson, rookie UDFA linebacker Chris Covington is being released. Covington has already bounced up and down a couple of times in this early season, having been promoted from the practice squad Wednesday. Assuming he clears waivers, Dallas is likely to re-invite him back to the 10-man P-Squad next week.
The Cowboys have a trust level with Wilson, including on special teams. But the jump-out guy on special teams this week might be Randall Cobb as the Cowboys’ punt returner.
Meanwhile, there are 46-man decisions to be made for Sunday, too. as we've written often, defensive end Taco Charlton remains on the outs (and is the subject of trade talks). An educated guess would have Taco and Trysten Hill inactive again this week, along with injured linebacker Luke Gifford, offensive linemen Adam Redmond and Brandon Knight (a sign of good health for Zack Martin), safety Donovan Wilson and Austin.
