FRISCO - How did the Dallas Cowboys not “get” - but rather, “earn” - their “America’s Team’ nickname?

It is about Tom Landry and Tex Schramm and Roger Staubach and Drew Pearson and Tony Dorsett, of course. It’s also about CBS on Sunday afternoons and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and “The Hole in the Roof” at Texas Stadium.

In a very literal way, the story starts in 1978, with an NFL Films producer names Bob Ryan authoring the prose and then coining the nickname for a Cowboys-centric film feature.
